Who is covered by the e-waste law?

Under the Vermont e-waste law, manufacturers of televisions and computer equipment are now responsible for the cost of recovery. This means that the following entities may bring any number of televisions or computer parts to a VT Registered Collection Facility for free.

  • VT residents (permanent or seasonal)
  • VT school districts
  • VT businesses with 10 or fewer employees (includes government agencies)
  • VT 501(c)(3) charities

Please note: CSWD Drop-Off Centers have a limit of 1 cubic yard of any material per day. Larger businesses may bring up to 7 TVs or computer parts per day to a VT Registered Collection Facility for free (each part of a computer setup counts as 1 item). If you have a larger volume of material than this, please call 802-872-8111 for an appointment. More information on the Vermont E-Waste Law and its implementation may be found on the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources website.
