The Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) received 83 entries for this year's Creative ReUse Showcase, a recycled art contest open to all high school students in Chittenden County. This was the 14th year CSWD sponsored the event. In addition to the nine award winning pieces, a dozen other entries were selected to be on exhibit at Frog Hollow's Church Street gallery.
This year entries were received from seven Chittenden County high schools: Burlington High School, Burlington Technical Center, Champlain Valley Union High School, Essex High School, Mt. Mansfield Union High School, Rock Point School, and South Burlington High School.
CSWD sponsors the Showcase every year as a way to promote recycling and waste reduction in the Chittenden County community. Our goal is to get people to think about the whole concept of waste. Seeing art made from what most of us would consider junk can help people realize that waste is a choice.
Please visit our virtual gallery to see photos of entries from 2010 and past Creative ReUse Showcases. (The 2010 photos will be available soon!)
