Disposal options

  • Empty containers for hazardous products such as AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS or HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS should be placed in the trash (NOT recyclable).


  • Trash disposal fees apply.

Limitations, regulations and other specifications

It is illegal to flush hazardous items down the drain, whether in a sink or toilet. Bring leftover hazardous items to the Environmental Depot (free for Chittenden County residents).


  • Mild cleaning products (i.e. soaps and detergents, lotions, shampoo) and other personal care products are made to be safely flushed down the drain in small quantities.
    • Containers for these products can be placed in your recycling bin.
