2025 Fall Leaf Drop-Off Information

It’s fall, and leaves are in full gear launching themselves from the treetops and into your yard. And those once-glorious gardens – they start to look a little scraggly, right? Here’s what to do with all those heaps of leaves and garden debris! Select CSWD locations are open outside normal business hours for you to drop off leaves only at no charge.

How to prepare your leaves:
Bring them in paper grocery bags or certified compostable leaf bags (available at local hardware stores & garden centers). If you use plastic to transport them, just empty the bag and take it home.

Seasonal Dates & Hours 2025

*Acceptable items: Leaves, grass, and yard debris.
No plastic bags, rocks, sod, trash, or pumpkins.

Regular Hours: Monday – Saturday: 7:30am – 3:30pm

Additional days/hours for leaf drop-off only:
Sunday, November 2, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Thursday, November 6, 7:30 am – 3:30pm (All other CSWD facilities open at 11 AM this day)
Sunday, November 9, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm
Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day), OPEN 7:30 am – 3:30 pm (All other CSWD facilities closed)
Sunday, November 16, 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Note: Both trailers and dumping mechanisms are allowed at the Organics Recycling Facility

Please note:  

• South Burlington: Trailers allowed at South Burlington location on special leaf collection dates only.  Our Essex location accepts trailers year round.
• No dumping mechanisms allowed. 
• 6 cubic yards per trip limit. This equals roughly a large pickup plus a small trailer; or, a 9’ x 6’ x 3’ trailer.

This is the best place to bring leaves & yard waste: Virtually all leaves collected in Chittenden County find their way here to be made into Green Mountain Compost products! Trailers and dumping mechanisms allowed.
