We are here to help you meet what the law requires. We offer a variety of services and materials at no charge — and if you need something you don’t see listed here, let us know and we will do our best to make it available.

Planning assistance

We can work with you one-on-one to:

  • Develop strategies to reduce the amount of waste your event produces
  • Make the sorting process easier by taking control of the waste stream
  • Create a solid waste management plan to make sure everything gets into the right place

Staff/volunteer training

CSWD can train your staff and volunteers, either at the event or in advance, to make sure everyone understands:

  • General requirements for recycling at events
  • What materials can/can’t be recycled (and/or composted)
  • Positive ways to help attendees and vendors get discarded materials into the right collection bin
  • Where the collected materials belong and how they need to be treated

Waste Warrior volunteers at your event

Waste Warriors are volunteer educators who have been trained by CSWD to help event attendees sort their discarded materials correctly. They’re a friendly, enthusiastic, and cheerful presence at your sorting stations that can answer questions about which items go into each bin.

Waste Warriors are not members of the event’s clean-up crew or waste management team. They don’t empty collection containers, transport bags of materials, pick up litter, or do other tasks that the event is already required to do.

We can’t guarantee that Waste Warriors will be available for your event, even if your request is approved. We will prioritize requests from events that are keeping food scraps out of the landfill, taking steps to reduce waste and control the waste stream, and developing their own team of Waste Warriors for future events

There’s no fee for Waste Warriors, but events have to demonstrate their commitment to responsible waste management by meeting the standards outlined on the request form.
