Disposal options

Accepted at:

  1. CSWD Organics Recycling Facility
  2. Burlington Electric Department’s McNeil Waste Wood Yard visit their website to confirm current hours and specifications
  3. All CSWD Drop-Off Centers except Burlington and Williston (as of Nov. 1, 2023) locations. See below for load limitations/fees by location.
    Note: Our Hinesburg DOC location does NOT accept natural wood. 

This includes:

  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Weeds
  • Garden trimmings
  • House plants
  • Natural wood (tree trimmings, limbs, clean stumps, brush, wood chips that have never been painted, glued, stained or treated) – not accepted at Hinesburg location. 

 

Cost

Organic Recycling Facility (Williston)

  • Fees: No fee

Essex, Milton and South Burlington locations:

  • Fee: No fee for up to 2 cubic yards.  $5 for the 3rd yard.

  • Limits: None
  • Fees: No fee

Essex, Milton and South Burlington locations:

  • Limits: 3 cubic yards per trip. Loads larger than 3 cubic yards should use the Organics Recycling Facility in Williston.
  • Fee: No fee for up to 2 cubic yards. $5 for the 3rd yard.

Other:

  • Do not include any plastic bags, rocks, or sod
  • Use paper or compostable bags for yard debris, or empty the bags on site
  • Commercial landscapers: Deliver directly to CSWD Organics Recycling Facility (home of Green Mountain Compost).
